Reacher season 4 is on the way!

The Prime Video action series was renewed for season 4 in October 2024 — three months before the third season premiered. Shortly after, lead star Alan Ritchson expressed his excitement by posting an Instagram photo of his character smashing a car window.

“Windows everywhere beware,” he wrote in the caption. “Reacher Season 4 is official. What are you gonna give me if I spill the beans on the book?”

Based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series, the show stars Ritchson as the infamous ex-military police officer and drifter who uses his combat skills (and intimidating stature) to take down dangerous criminals. The show debuted in 2022 and quickly became one of the Amazon-owned streamer’s most popular series. Its second season was one of the most-viewed releases on the platform in 2023, per Deadline.

Season 4 will follow Child’s 2009 book, Gone Tomorrow.

Yes, there will be a season 4 of Reacher. In 2024, Prime Video announced that it had picked up the series for a fourth season ahead of its season 3 premiere in 2025.

“Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season,“ said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, per THR.

He continued, “We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team behind the series including [showrunner] Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios.”

When will Reacher season 4 come out?

An official release date for Reacher’s fourth season hasn’t been announced. However, Ritchson told Collider in March 2026 that season 4 filming had ended and said that the new episodes will be out later this year.

"Well, we finished shooting Season 4 of Reacher. It’s by far the best season we’ve had yet, so it’s coming. It’ll be out this year," he told the publication.

Season 4 will come after Reacher went undercover for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) during the entirety of season 3. In the finale episode, he avenges the death of his former colleague, Dominique Koh (Mariah Robinson) by killing arms dealer Xavier Quinn (Brian Tee).

What will Reacher season 4 be about?

Reacher season 4 will follow the plot of Child’s 2009 book, Gone Tomorrow — news Ritchson announced on Instagram in June 2025.

In Gone Tomorrow, the 13th Jack Reacher novel, Reacher is riding the New York City subway at 2 a.m. when he spots a woman displaying all the signs of being a suicide bomber. Confronting her ends in violence, drawing Reacher into a web of secrets involving the Pentagon, political assassins and a powerful woman with ties to the military.

While the book is set in NYC, filming took place in Philadelphia. According to ScreenRant, early behind-the-scenes images and videos have hinted that production may have made the creative decision to change Gone Tomorrow's setting to Philly.

The outlet noted that BTS footage showed Ritchson holding a red hat that read "Philadelphia" and saw him ordering a Philly cheesesteak from a street vendor.

Who is returning for Reacher season 4?

Ritchson is the only confirmed cast member to return for season 4 of Reacher. He’ll reprise his role as the titular character, but it’s not clear if any other fan favorites from past seasons will make an appearance.

Because Reacher drifts from city to city, each season typically comes with a whole new cast of characters. The only other recurring role is Frances Neagley (Maria Sten), one of Reacher’s old friends and a private investigator who has appeared in all three seasons.

Variety reported in October 2024 that Prime Video had greenlit a Neagley-focused spinoff series with Sten reprising her role. However, the actress told Men’s Journal that she would return to Reacher in the future — especially if they adapted Child’s 2002 book Without Fail.

“I would really love Neagley to pop back on Reacher to do that one," the Channel Zero actress said.

Who is joining the cast of Reacher season 4?

In June 2025, Prime Video announced that Sydelle Noel (Glow), Indonesian singer Agnez Mo, Kevin Corrigan (Grounded for Life), Kevin Weisman (Alias), Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Kathleen Robertson (Murder in the First) and Anggun will be joining Ritchson for Reacher season 4, per Deadline.

Jay Baruchel (How to Train Your Dragon) was also cast, but he exited the series to attend to a personal matter just weeks later. Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette (Just Friends) was recast in his place.
