Taylor Swift is breaking her silence on her past relationships with 1975 frontman Matty Healy and actor Joe Alwyn.

The “Lover” singer opened up about how her celebrated Eras Tour gave her “purpose” in the immediate aftermath of both breakups in the fourth episode of her Disney+ docuseries.

“My personal life was hard,” Swift admitted. “I went through two breakups on the first half of this tour. And that’s a lot of breakups, actually.”

She credited the Eras Tour with giving her the motivation to keep moving forward amid the heartbreak.

“The show is what gave me purpose and was what I could use to get me out of bed,” she said. “So the tour has never been the hard thing in my life. The tour has been the thing that allowed me to find purpose outside of the s--- that was going wrong in my life.”

She cheekily added, “Men will let you down. The Eras Tour never will.”

Swift and Alwyn, known for films like The Brutalist and The Favourite, dated for six years before going their separate ways in April 2023. The couple co-wrote several songs featured on Swift’s Evermore, Folklore, and Midnights albums throughout their relationship, including “Exile,” “Betty,” “Champagne Problems,” “Evermore,” “Coney Island,” and “Sweet Nothing.”

Alwyn, under the pseudonym William Bowery, is also credited as a co-producer on a collection of Swift’s songs like “My Tears Ricochet,” “August,” and “This is Me Trying.” His contribution to Folklore earned him a Grammy for Album of the Year in 2021.

A month after their split, Swift was spotted spending time with Healy in New York City. The award-winning singers had a whirlwind romance that ended a month later in June.

Prior to her Eras Tour docuseries, Swift had been relatively tight-lipped about her relationships with Alwyn and Healy. Instead, she chose to let her lyrics speak for her, with multiple songs from 2023’s Midnights and 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department suspected to be about both men.

Earlier in the episode, Swift discussed feeling like a “big conglomerate that no one sees as a real human being” anymore. “Especially not men that I date,” she added.

She recalled being absolutely defeated by the entire process of dating. “Nothing, nothing works,” she said. “Nothing’s… there’s no one for me in the world.”

But there was! And she’d find him, fittingly, at the Eras Tour. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce went viral in 2023 after he failed to gift Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it at her Kansas City concert, leading Swift to reach out instead.

The couple confirmed their romance when Swift attended one of Kelce’s games that September. After two years of dating, the couple announced their engagement in August 2025. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift and Kelce wrote in a joint Instagram post.

The third and fourth episodes of Swift's new docuseries, The End of an Era, are streaming now on Disney+.
