Texas A&M is set to be without one of its linebackers for the rest of the offseason.
According to On3's Pete Nakos, Texas A&M linebacker Daymion Sanford underwent successful surgery this week and is expected to miss the rest of the offseason. He suffered a lower-body injury during the Aggies' spring game last Saturday.
Sanford has been with the Aggies for the last three seasons and finished the 2025 season with 57 total tackles, two passes defended, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
For his career, Sanford has racked up 94 total tackles, six passes defended, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
The Aggies are coming off a tremendous 2025 season, finishing 11-2. They made the College Football Playoff by winning 11 of 12 games before losing in the first round to the Miami Hurricanes, 10-3. The Hurricanes' defense went into College Station and stifled the Aggies' offense.

The 2026 season will be Mike Elko's third as the Aggies' head coach after coming over from the Duke Blue Devils. He compiled a 16-9 overall record in Durham before taking the Aggies' job ahead of the 2024 season. He has a 19-7 record with A&M.
Texas A&M will open the 2026 season with a matchup against Missouri State on Sept. 5 before playing Arizona State on Sept. 12. After that, the program will play its first SEC game against Kentucky on Sept. 19.
Time will tell if Sanford will be ready for the start of the regular season.
