Milo Ventimiglia made a surprise return to social media after more than three years away. In December 2025, the Gilmore Girls and This Is Us star stunned fans with an unexpected Instagram post to announce that he plans to share more with his followers in the future.

Ventimiglia, 48, posted a skyline photo of the sun breaking through the clouds with the caption, ā€œTime passes. Been awhile. Hope everyone’s been well. Life’s busy but good. I’m gonna try to post a bit more of what I’ve been up to + projects I’ve been working on. Here it is.ā€

The actor also shared several other artsy images over the next few days, as well as a selfie from the beach while wearing a wetsuit.

Fans reacted to Ventimiglia's surprise social media return, with many saying they missed him.

ā€œThere he is. Good to see you, man,ā€ one fan wrote in the comment section.

ā€œWe missed ya… welcome back šŸ™‚,ā€ another wrote.

ā€œWe’ve all definitely missed you. Can’t wait to see what you’ve been capturing lately and excited to hear about the new projects,ā€ another fan chimed in.

Ventimiglia is best known for his role as teen bad boy Jess Mariano in Gilmore Girls from 2001 to 2006, as well as his more recent role as family patriarch Jack Pearson in the NBC drama series This Is Us. He has more than 2.6 million Instagram followers due to his popularity from those roles and others.

But Ventimiglia’s last post before his recent flurry of activity was on May 8, 2022, when he posted a car selfie with the caption, ā€œUndisclosed. MV.ā€

Since that time, he got married and welcomed his first child, Ke’ala Coral Ventimiglia, with his wife Jarah Mariano in January 2025. The couple also experienced tragedy with the loss of their Malibu, CA, home in the devastating Los Angeles fires a few weeks before their daughter’s birth.

Ventimiglia did not post to social media at the time, but on Jan. 31, Mariano posted to Instagram with an update. ā€œMy family & I evacuated from the Palisades Fire. We lost our home that we were living in & everything we own, as well as our home under construction that we were about to move into,ā€ she wrote.

Ventimiglia’s wife expressed gratitude for being able to evacuate from the home safely, then added, ā€œGentle reminder to all, to please allow us this time & space to nest with our newborn in such a delicate phase. We already have everything we need in abundance & will be back around with updates in our own time.ā€

In December, Ventimiglia told Us Weekly that his daughter’s birth and the wildfires changed his perspective on life. ā€œGoing through what my wife and I went through this year [losing our home in the L.A. fires], there’s nothing we need other than a roof over our head, food on our table. Simple necessities of life,ā€ he said.

ā€œWe’re doing great,ā€ the Gilmore Girls alum added. ā€œMy wife is the strongest person I know, and to be able to rebound from any of that is huge.ā€
