Beyond the Gates is expanding its cast for Season 2 with the addition of another Daytime Emmy winner.

In a recently released first-look clip from CBS, Ashley (Jen Jacob) is seen sitting at Uptown’s bar with an unidentified man who appears to lean in for a kiss.

A representative for Beyond the Gates has since confirmed to Parade that the man is longtime soap opera actor Jordi Vilasuso.

While details about Vilasuso’s character and storylines are being kept under wraps, Parade understands that viewers will learn more about his role early in the new year.

Fans are hopeful that Vilasuso’s character will be tied to Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria), expanding the Navarro family unit.

Vilasuso began his daytime career in 2000 on the former Procter and Gamble soap opera Guiding Light, where he originated the role of fan-favorite Tony Santos. He later portrayed Griffin Castillo on ABC's All My Children, Dario Hernandez on NBC's Days of Our Lives and most recently Rey Rosales on CBS's The Young and the Restless.

For his portrayal of Tony Santos on CBS's Guiding Light, Vilasuso earned the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2003.

Vilasuso’s casting follows the recent arrival of Daytime Emmy winner Greg Vaughan, continuing the trend of bringing established daytime stars into Beyond the Gates expanding ensemble cast.

Beyond The Gates is developed and produced by CBS Studios and the NAACP in partnership with P&G Studios a division of Procter and Gamble. The series is the groundbreaking first hour-long black soap opera to premiere in daytime. The creation is the brainchild of award-winning showrunner Michele Val Jean, in association with executive producer Sheila Ducksworth, and is the first new soap opera to premiere since NBC debuted Passions back in 1999.

Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams weeknights on Paramount+. Viewers can watch Beyond the Gates from the beginning on Paramount+ or on Pluto TV’s dedicated 24/7 Beyond the Gates FAST channel.
